Measurements used by the Australian building industry are modern metric. Dimensions on building drawings are shown in millimetres but the mm symbol is not used, for example 2.345 metres is shown as 2345. Land survey plan dimensions and reduced levels may be shown as decimal metres, for example, 2.345 and again no m symbol is used. Note: centimetres (cm) are never used by the Australian building industry, these are reserved for human dimensions and for fabric dimensions.
